The leveling process in WoW is a painful, time-consuming, stressful process that everyone hates, and this is even worse when you want to create more characters-classes. Now, if you are like me, then I enjoy the first time I complete a quest, but doing it again and again for different characters is very boring, so I was looking on Internet the best and fastest way to level a char or any class and found the WoW leveling guides.
As for everything in the world, there are good, excellent and also poor products, and to be able to find the best guide for WoW was also a hard task. I will not lie to you, I was first looking for free guides but every single one of them were like doubling the time I spend leveling and this is because these free guides are pdf’s or websites so I had to keep tapping CTRL+Tab every single step of every quest. Also tried some addons, but sometimes they didn’t even work and they were full of bugs, not updated and other several problems including a complex configuration.
Until I finally decided to purchase a guide, considering they have a return policy, there was nothing to lose, if I didn’t like it I just go to the website and ask for a full refund. Even before purchasing I played with the free trials, and if it was good I would buy it. So after researching around this market, I found Zygor Guides, and totally love them!
Not only because I already used the guide to level many characters to 80 in just days! But also because they have a great customer service and updates every WoW patch to adjust the guide for best performance. And believe me, there is nothing worse than doing a quest that is not updated, time consuming! You don’t have to worry about these issues with Zygor; they not only update the guide, but also have a support forum to report any bug or problem.
Now, I started telling you there is a strong Zygor competitor, I was using the free trial and I have to tell you that is also amazing! But what really got me are the bonuses…
This guide is called Dugi’s WoW Ultimate Guide, and I will make a brief comparison between Zygor and Dugi Guides.
Leveling Speed: as far as I have researched, both guides are very good at this point, they have their respective Zygor and Dugi addon. So there is no obvious winner.
Bonuses – Updated (12/6/2010): to make it easier for you I made a table:

One note about bonuses: it really depends on what you are looking for; for example in my opinion, I would go for Dugi’s bonuses because the 1-450 Profession and the Gold Farming Guides. But maybe you prefer the Death Knight guide; it is up to you really.
Cataclysm Update: I have to be very clear on this point because there is a lot of confusion on this point. And also this is a critical factor because Cataclysm is around the corner (December 7th) so for everyone that want to take the lead on their server, this is a must!
I have to tell you that both Zygor and Dugi’s guides have a Free update for Cataclysm if you buy them now. But this is NOT AN UPGRADE! What it means? Put it simple, if you buy either guide now, you will receive the 1-80 leveling guide, once Cataclysm releases, you will receive the 1-80 Cataclysm update, but this not include the 80-85 upgrade!
Please you have to understand this because it is very important, if you want to have the 80-85 upgrade you will have to pay an extra fee for them.

Q: Is this update going to be free?
A: Technically, no. The update is free, but the upgrade is not. Those two terms are extremely vital. For example, if you own the 1-80 Alliance Leveling Guide at the moment, when Cataclysm is released you’ll still have the 1-80 section of the guide, but not 81-85 section nor the Goblin & Worgen starting zones.
Q: Okay, I see, the upgrade is not free. So how much will it cost?
A: The exact amount has not yet been confirmed. You can estimate around $30 per Faction upgrade, or $35 for both. This is not a set price, and won’t be until the staff is able to determine how much work they are going to need to put behind it. I will update the F.A.Q. with the exact price when it is released.

It is clear this website will focus on Zygor Guides, but I will also mention other WoW guides that I think are also good guides; I will even make a comparison between them.
There are several WoW guides in the market right now, but just a few are really good enough to spend time with. If you are like me and have tons of characters or simply don’t want to go through all the quests spending too much time leveling, then I really recommend you grab one of these guides.
But before you jump in and buy the first WoW leveling guide you find on Internet, I have to tell you that only 2 guides are really worth your money, and these two guides are: Zygor Guides and Dugi’s Guides.
Is Zygor guide the best out there?, like I said, it has a strong competitor (Dugi’s Guide) and it will depend on your gaming needs if it is Zygor or Dugi guides the best for you, in the next posts I will extend the comparison between these two.
Before making any choices I really suggest knowing what is included with your purchase and ask yourself these questions:
- Does it include future updates?
- Will it include Cataclysm upgrade?
- What kind of guide or walkthrough includes the purchase? (Leveling, Class, Builds, PVP, Gold Making, etc)
- Does it have a good customer support?
- Does it updates continually or every WoW patch?
These are just a few but important questions that you have to know before buying a WoW guide, and as you can see there is special emphasis on the guide’s updates. This is a very crucial factor because, you know, World of Warcraft is a MMORPG that is continually changing, so your guide has to keep updating also.
